WIP Wednesday~Post Vacation Catch Up~Oh My Gosh It's December!

WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced Whew! Thanksgiving is over...onward we go to Christmas! Three short weeks! I spent Thanksgiving in Spokane, WA, Coeur d'Alene, ID, and Leavenworth, WA. It was a nice, long weekend. My daughter, Shannon and I had a nice road trip. This is Leavenworth, WA. A town that fell on hard times and then re-created itself as a Bavarian village. We had a great time!
Shannon finally got to try fondue:
My daughter, Aubrey & her husband Chris house-sat for me. When I came home I found this:
Aubrey had bought me "mini-bolts" for my fabric (from a comic book store no less...who says they're worthless!), ironed all my fabric and put it on bolts. It now looks like this:
This was an early Christmas present for me~I love that girl! But I have to say...my stash is not very impressive! I'm working on finishing Shannon's quilt, using a stitch-in-the-ditch for it, may put an X on the log cabin blocks...quilting a big quilt on my home machine is a new and SCARY process for me, but so far, so good:
Aubrey is finishing up her Christmas stockings...year 2 of this project, big stockings...we don't mess around!
Shannon is proud of her rainbow pancakes:
I'm on the holiday push...things I can't show you yet! What a week~wonderful time with family. Now back to sewing! Thanks for stopping by~Duke is happy to see you!
Hope your holidays are swimming along :) ~Diana

Sunday Stash and Aubrey & Me!

I went to a small quilt/craft fair on Friday, with my good friend and fellow quilting enthusiast Cindy Borders. We had a great time...as I said, smallish show but I did find some fabric, Bugs, and kitties and mushrooms, oh my!
And sheep! I had missed out on the green sheep fabric at my local store and I was SOOOO happy when I came across a booth that was ALL SHEEP, all the time!
That night, my daughter Aubrey, came over to sew. She is making Christmas stockings for her husband and herself. We had a slight mis-calculation when cutting the back (mirror image, duh) so we wasted a little fabric...fortunately the backs are solids, so no huge tragedy. Here's her progress:
And my grand-puppy was here to help, of course!
That's it for Sunday! Thanks for stopping by!

I Quilt Thursdays!

So, machine quilting "scares" me just a bit. I've done some simple stuff, but to try to do what Gemma does...well, I'll have to practice a lot more! My current project just for me is this handbag.
I used a stitch that looks like chicken feet prints going around the chickens. Kept it simple and clean. This is my next project to quilt on my machine:
I'm simply going to stitch it in the ditch! Thanks for stopping by!

WIP Wednesday: Progress on the Chicken Handbag!

WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced Progress on my chicken handbag. This is my second go around and here's what I've found...if I get tired, I stop. The instructions are fine, but it's a little complicated...so if it doesn't make sense the first time I read it, I stop and go back to it later. I have had NO screw-ups this time (had to rip a couple of times my first go around. So here she is:
I love it! I think I want to put leather handles on it, fortunately there's a big Quilt/Sew/Craft show this weekend, so I'll see what I find there. Here's the pattern, like I said, it's pretty well written:
Here's the first one I made:
And check out my sister's blog...she made one too! www.runninghen.blogspot.com Thanks for stopping by!

WIP Wednesday~for ME!

WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced I finally had MY quilt quilted! I worked on this two years ago and it's sat in my drawer waiting...waiting...waiting
The binding is made out of the blue flannel backing...108", so I didn't need to seam it
(it's blue...looks grey in this picture) Five hours of hand sewing so far...my daughter, Aubrey put in 2 hours, and I've got 3 in so far...love these binding clips, btw...
SO CLOSE!!!
Thanks for stopping by! Friskie is glad you did!
